Just Around The River Bend....

I thought I would make this clear right away:
I am straight up Pocahontas!

Today Mark, Ashley, Pope and I had the day off (of course I did, who am I kidding?). We've been planning to have a fun day for the past week and we finally settled on canoeing. As we all know from our Mud Lake experience, I am VERY good at canoeing. The four of us rented two canoes at the ORC and drove out to Warm Slough. Getting there was half the battle. Apparently, the tie-downs they gave us were not sufficient to keeping the canoe on top of my car. The one on top of Ashley's was fine for whatever reason, but mine was sliding back and forth across my car and it was totally freaking me out. Me and Pope had to pull over twice to tie it down better. At least it didn't fall off! I kept imagining it flying off my car, catching the wind and taking out a small child or a parked car or something. Once we finally got there we put the canoes in the water and dropped my car off at Beaver Dick Park (our final destination). Then our adventure began! Ashley had never been canoeing before, so it was pretty fun to rock her boat a little. Pope learned quickly that if he made fun of me, he got an oar-full of water all up in his face. So fun! He did get me back a little, but that's okay. It took us about 4 hours to get down the river (which was VERY slow moving and shallow). We only ran into a single tree and became beached on the sand once, which I think is pretty good. We saw a blue heron and a water snake and I also may or may not have sang "Just Around the River Bend" for a majority of the time we were out there. Everyone else joined in as well. Like I said, I am straight up Pocahontas. My hair was even braided, I have a little racoon friend and I know someone who is Indian, so there you go! You can't deny the similarities! Luckily, the canoe didn't fall off of my car on the way home either. Once we got here, we made breakfast burritos and I am eating mine as we speak! DELICIOUS! What a great day! Miss you girls!

Attempted Boating

Today started slow. I woke up at 9:30 and ate breakfast and wanted to go running, but I wasn't feeling well so I took a shower. Afterwards I decided to be productive, so I went and picked up Sydney's bike at 509 and went to Ace Hardware and purchased the necessary tool to fix it.

QUESTION: Guess how much it cost?

ANSWER: $1.11

Isn't that awesome?! After that, I pumped up the tires and took it for a spin around the neighborhood. It was great! (Don't worry Sydney, I will give you the little wrench so you can fix future handlebar problems easily and efficiently). Next, Beth called and said Kayla was coming into town and wanted us to go boating with her and her mom and all the young women from their ward. So, the three of us got ready and drove out to Ririe Reservoir (the long, scenic route through Idaho Falls). When we got there, there was no one else to be found. We circled the parking lot and camping area looking fro Kayla's mom, but to no avail. Unfortunately, there was also no cell service. Our last hope was to go down to the dock and wait to see if anyone would come around that we recognized. We laid out our towels and sunbathed (Beth and Kayla with their SPF 4 tanning oil and me with my SPF 30 sunblock). We were there for a hour or so and saw no sign of anyone we knew so we decided to go. Isn't it great that we drove for an hour one way and paid three dollars to lay out on a dock full of fishing Mexicans just to come back to Rexburg an hour later? Somehow, I still got sunburned. Good times. (You know you're from Alaska when...) When we got back into Rexburg we went to Taco Bell and came back to the apartment to have a slumbie and watch Coroline. Woohoo! We'll catch up more tomorrow. I miss you guys!

Today was great! I got to sleep in for the first time since school ended, which was fantastic! I got out of bed at 10:30 and decided that I should probably go running since it's been awhile. I was super slow, but it felt really good. It wasn't as hot today as it has been (so is was 85 instead of 95). I sat around, took a shower, sat around, fell asleep, went to DI, watched the CSI marathon, and fell asleep. It was awesome. I finally woke up and went to FHE with Beth in the greenhouses. We went on a little tour of the tropical and the desert rooms and Beth made it rain. Afterwards, we went to Frontier Pies and Bishop and Brother Eaton treated us to pie. Delicious! When we were done, me and Beth went to Walmart with Brianna Dance and our new friend named Jacob. Jacob told ua about this terrible experience he had with warm 7up when he was in highschool. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time! He said that he took a huge drink of a warm 7up while he was driving. He drank it a little too fast and it somehow got caught in his troat and made him pass out. He ran off the road and took out 20 feet of some old lady's bushes, ran over the top of a road sign, and hit the back of a truck which rolled into the back of another vehicle. It was then that he woke up with all of this destruction around him and he had no idea what had just happened. So there you go, the moral of the story is that you should NEVER drink warm 7up, especially while driving. HILARIOUS! Me and Beth are planning on putting a large case of 7up on top of his car to ensure that it warms in the sun and that he drinks it while in the car. Sounds like a good idea to me! Love you girls.

For Meagan

So it's official... I have graduated from college! Now I just need to figure out what I am supposed to do for the rest of my life. My tentative plan is to move to Utah and find a job. Good luck in this economy, right? My hope and prayer is that it will come easily. For now I am living with my good friends Ashley and Mark in lovely little townhouse in a magical place called Rexburg, Idaho. It's only been three days since I graduated, but it kind of seems like it's been forever. I had a lot fun this weekend. My friend Brad came into town from Utah and we were able to hang out a little with some of our other friends from back in the day. I was talking to Ashley about how we have the kind of friends who you won't see for a whole year and things are exactly like they were before. It is amazing how you can pick up exactly where you left off. The people you meet in college are the people you will be friends with for the rest of your life (which I am ready to get on with). Isn't that great? My thoughts are a little scrambled, but that's okay. At least they are all positive. Don't worry, tomorrow's post will be better. Love you all.
